Durable Floor Surface
GKN, were looking to introduce a new JCB line to an area that was previously used as a Tool Room for 20 years. The existing concrete floors were extremely worn, uneven and broken. The floor was covered in grease, dirt and oil. GKN required a very hard wearing, flat, durable floor surface to withstand high levels of folk lift traffic and production usage.
Fast Installation
PSC Flooring Ltd specified a nominal 10mm heavy duty, cementitious pump screed, followed by three coats of HB epoxy resin, as the installation had to be completed in a very tight timescale, so speed of installation was the key factor.
High Quality
All the floors were heavily shot blasted and all areas were thoroughly repaired, swept and vacuumed cleaned and all expansion joints were recut and repaired using epoxy mortar compound. Two coats of epoxy Damp Proof Membrane resin primer was then laid to the total floor area.
Efficient Team
A 10mm heavy duty cementitious pump screed, was laid in two days and the speed of application was very attractive to GKN.
Once the cementitious pump screeds were dry and all expansion joints reintroduced then three coats of HB epoxy resin was laid, using mid grey to all production areas.
The project was completed in 3 weeks, on time and in budget, providing GKNLtd with a fully refurbished, very durable, hard wearing epoxy resin floor surface that can be used for many years to come.
