Madni Food Products Ltd was looking to expand their manufacturing space and specified needing a food safe floor. Additionally, the food safe floor would need be easy to clean and keep clean. Furthermore, at the site visit it was noted that there were layers of failed floor paint. Therefore, the floor paint would need to be removed before installing an Environmental Health friendly 6mm heavy duty RT polyurethane screed.
In Preparation
Firstly, to prepare for the 6mm heavy duty RT polyurethane screed, removing the failed floor paint was necessary. Additionally, dirt and contaminants had to be cleared from the floor. Therefore, we had to thoroughly clean and prepare the concrete floor surface. To start, the complete area was given a medium shot blast using the 20D shot blasting floor preparation system. Then, the edgework was cleaned and prepared using a handheld total enclosed 110v diamond grinding machine.
After that, the floor was then vacuumed clean of all residues and any dust. Subsequently, 6mm x 6mm saw cuts were made to the perimeter of proposed area, door thresholds and around drains which totalled 104 linear metres to toe in and anchor screed.
680 Square Meters – 6mm heavy duty RT polyurethane screed
From then on, the now fully prepared 680 Square Meters received a nominal 6mm heavy duty Resedv Pumadur RT polyurethane, in the clients chosen texture, matt red.
In addition, once dry, a 6mm x 6mm channel was saw cut to existing expansion joints, knocked out and infilled with matching joining compound to mirror through expansion joints, where necessary.
In total, the work was completed in just 8 working days, on time and within budget.
