Returning client Shorade, who are a Tesla and Porsche specialist invited us to look at their body shop in Avonmouth. As the site inspection it was noted that the floor of the 866 square metre area had seen better days and would require repair before any topcoat finishes could be applied.

Client Brief and Recommendation

The client was looking for a strong, durable, high end look as we had achieved at their Cannock Accident Repair Centre. In this case we recommended an 8mm heavy duty cementitious screed, followed by two coats of high build epoxy resin.

Preparation of floor surface

In order to remove any failed floor paint, and thoroughly clean and prepare existing concrete floor surface the team used a heavy shotblast via the totally enclosed shotblasting machine and then also using the double headed diamond grinding machine and the edges with a handheld 110v diamond grinder.

The area was vacuumed clean of all residues and dust and repairs were made to damaged localised concrete, holes, cracks and expansion joints as required using polyurethane mortar compound.

The 866 square meter area was given one coat of KDR Epocoat MT moisture tolerant epoxy resin priming system, incorporating a heavy scatter of 0.6 to 1.2mm quartz aggregate.

PSC have done a great job yet again! The finished project looks amazing and has totally revolutionised the workshop, giving us a new hard-wearing floor for many years to come, with workshop bays and gangways all set out, with demarcation lines.

Nominal 8mm Weber 4610 heavy duty industrial grade cementitious screed system with two coats of high build epoxy resin to 866 sq mtrs

A nominal 8mm Weber 4610 heavy duty Industrial grade cementitious screed was machine pumped to the total floor area. Existing expansion joints were then mirrored through by saw cutting 10mm x 8mm expansion joints, knock out and infill with jointing compound to circa 45 linear metres.

The cured cementitious screed was then lightly abraded using a doubled headed diamond grinding machine and vacuumed clean before applying two coats of Resdev Pumatect high build epoxy resin flooring system, based on two different colours, light grey and mid grey, to plan to agreed by the client.

Mid Grey Ral 7046 was laid out to create parking bays and side workshop totalling 450 square metres and Light Grey Ral 7035 was applied to gangways, office, stores and goods in area totalling 416 sq mtrs.

The entire project took just 8 days from start to finish, from shotblasting, priming, machine pumping the screed and then to set out and lay the two coats of epoxy resin.

To Complete the look 100mm wide edging lines to parking bays totalling circa 180 linear mtrs were masked out and Resdev Pumatect V high build epoxy resin in the clients chosen white.
