On Power – Aston Villa Stairs – Commercial Flooring
Client Brief and Recommendation
The end client was looking for a hardwearing flooring solution that could accommodate the high levels of foot traffic they experience at football matches and concerts alike. The brief was for a hard wearing, anti-slip resin floor in grey, that would be easy to clean, and could be completed and dry intime for the evening match. PSC recommended two coats of Polyaspartic Fast Cure Resin laid in mid grey, with 0.4-0.8mm quartz aggregate anti slip to treads, with safety yellow bands to all steps, again completed with Polyaspartic Resin. The benefit of using Polyaspartic Resin, is that it’s fast cure, dries within an hour, can be laid at low temperatures, much lower than Epoxy and is hard wearing.
Its all in the Prep Work
In order to fully prepare the two flights of steps in the Holte End, it was necessary to remove the old green resin coating system so the steps were fully cleaned and prepared using a totally enclosed hand held 110v diamond grinder. The floor area was then cleaned of all residues and dust with 110v triple motor vacuum and repairs were made to any localised damaged concrete, holes, bolt holes as required using resin filler.
2 Stairways in Polyaspartic Polyurethane Resin
Once all the preparation work was complete two coats of Resdev Pumadur PAS Polyaspartic Polyurethane Resin, in the end clients chosen Mid Grey gloss, incorporating a 0.3 to 0.6mm quartz anti slip aggregate. A 50mm band was then masked out on each tread and a 50mm band to each upstand and was laid in Resdev Pumadur PAS Polyaspartic Polyurethane Resin in the clients chosen Safety Yellow.
Both flights of steps were completed in just one day and ready for the big match that evening!
All part of a wider refurbishment project in the famous Holte end, at Aston Villa’s ground at Villa Park Football Ground.
