Client Brief and Recommendations
The client was looking for a Food Safe flooring option that would be hard wearing and easy to keep clean over a long period of time. At the site visit we noted that the floor would need extensive cleaning before a food grad floor could be installed. Food Grade flooring – 6mm RT Screed, is ideal the Milk and Dairy industry as it is extremely hardwearing, slip resisitant in wet and dry working conditions and Chemical and Acid Resistance, tailored to withstand the acidic nature of animal fats, proteins, and cleaning chemicals.
In Preparation
The entire production area floor underwent extensive shotblasting using a captive 20D shotblasting machine, powered by a generator mounted on a lorry, to thoroughly eliminate the ingrained oil and dirt surface. The edgework was meticulously diamond grinded with a completely enclosed handheld 110v diamond grinder. Subsequently, the entire floor was meticulously vacuumed to ensure the complete removal of all residues and dust, utilising 110v triple motor vacuums. As part of the preparation stage, precise 10mm x 10mm saw cuts were executed around drains and gullies, along the perimeter of the floor area, and where necessary to toe in and anchor screed.
700 Square metres of 9mm Food Grade Flooring
A highly durable 9mm Resedv Pumadur RT Polyurethane Screed, featuring a textured, matte, red finish tailored to the client’s specifications, was meticulously installed across the expansive 700-square-metre production floor area. Precisely addressing any necessary modifications, our team expertly recut existing expansion joints and seamlessly integrated matching jointing compound where needed.
