Hills Ford – Kidderminster – Vehicle Workshop Flooring
PSC were delighted to be invited to look at an 850 square vehicle workshop for our local Ford Main dealer – Hills Ford of Kidderminster. Having dealerships in both Kidderminster and Malvern, family-owned Hills Ford stock both New and pre-owned from Ford and a number of other car manufacturers.
Client Brief & Recommendation
When searching for a durable and cost-effective flooring solution, Hills Ford needed a hardwearing and easy-to-maintain industrial flooring system. The requirement was clear: a surface impervious to engine oil and grease, designed for long-term reliability. As experienced industrial flooring contractors, PSC Flooring was the trusted choice to deliver a tailored solution.
To ensure minimal disruption to the client’s operations, the work was scheduled over the Easter bank holiday weekend. This meticulous planning is part of what sets us apart as leading resin flooring contractors.
In Preparation
The process started with thorough cleaning and preparation. We used a triple-headed diamond grinding floor machine, paired with a vacuum system, to remove oil, dirt, grease, and any failed epoxy resin coatings from the surface. For precise edgework, a handheld 110v diamond grinder was employed, ensuring that all areas were properly prepared for the new polyurethane flooring.
Next, the entire floor was swept clean of dust and debris to create a flawless base. Our team, comprising expert resin flooring contractors, then carried out repairs on localised damage, bolt holes, and cracks using a combination of epoxy resin screed and polyurethane mortar.
Approximately 100 square metres of the floor had significant oil contamination. To address this challenge, we applied one coat of Resdev Pumaprime OCS, an oil-tolerant epoxy resin primer. This advanced solution ensured a strong bond between the substrate and the industrial flooring system, providing the durability and reliability expected from a premium flooring solution.
850 Square meters of vehicle Workshop Flooring
To create the client’s desired design, we masked out the floor into sections for the three chosen colours.
We applied the main base colour, Mid Grey, to the primary areas and an additional 60 square metres. Around the wash bay, we incorporated a 0.4 to 0.8mm quartz aggregate for added functionality.
Chelsea Blue was laid to the gangway areas with edging lines in V high build epoxy resin safety yellow. Dark Grey was then applied to the 12 ramp areas.
The project took 4 full days to complete and has completely transformed the workshop.
