Client Brief and Recommendation
This time the brief was to install a number of trucking gangways and warehouse aisles – the total area amounting to circa 600 square metres. The client had a number of priorities but in particular requested a hardwearing, easy to clean floor with clearly defined demarcation to optimise safety, that could be achieved in a quick turnaround time to minimise production downtime. At the site survey it was noted that the floors in question had failed floor paint, dirt, oil, and grease on them. PSC recommended a deep clean preparation followed by a two-coat High Build Epoxy Resin System incorporating a 0.4 to 0.8m quartz aggregate anti slip finish, in front of two shutter doors to add anti-slip in wet conditions.
In Preparation
The initial phase of the preparation process entailed the meticulous cleaning of the concrete surfaces using a double-headed, diamond grinding floor preparation system and a hand-held 110v diamond grinder. Subsequent to the completion of the grinding procedure, the entire floor underwent thorough vacuuming to ensure cleanliness. As a final step, repairs were executed on the exposed expansion joints, which measured 5mm wide x 5mm deep over a distance of approximately 50 linear meters, by infilling with DCP Donseal PU440 polyurethane jointing compound.
600 Square metres of High Build Epoxy Resin
Circa 313 square metres of Trucking Gangways were masked out and given two coats of Resdev Pumatect High Build, Epoxy Resin Flooring System, in the clients chosen colourway, gloss, Chelsea Blue; with the addition of a 0.4 to 0.8m quartz aggregate anti slip finish, to a 4m wide x 3m deep area in front of two shutter doors.
The Packing Area totalling 40 sq mtrs, Racking Area totalling 130 sq mtrs, Stores Area totalling 60 sq mtrs and Casting Area totalling 20 sq mtrs also received two coats of Resdev Pumatect High Build, Epoxy Resin Flooring System in the clients chosen gloss, Mid-Grey colourway.
75mm wide Epoxy Resin Demarcation Lines were then added to the Trucking Gangways, Racking Area and to the Stores Area by laying 2 coats of Resdev Pumatect V, Safety yellow to circa 320 linear metres.
The project took just 3 days to complete, completed over the weekend to minimise production downtime.
