In situations where a hard wearing surface is essential, heavy duty polyurethane screeds often fit the bill perfectly. They consist of an aggregate-filled core, filled with flint with polyurethane applied by trowel at a thickness of 6mm or more, making the surface effectively impervious throughout its structure. This is vital to ensuring that liquid cannot seep through the surface.

Highest level of durability

Polyurethane flooring and polyurethane screeds offer the highest level of durability on the market, with the UKs governing body for resin, FeRFA, classifying our polyurethane screeds as Type 8, which grades them as the most robust, hard wearing screeds available. For this reason, polyurethane screeds are ideal for applications where they will be installed in the toughest of environments.

Relatively low viscosity

Compared to epoxy screeds, polyurethane has a relatively low viscosity, which means it can be applied by hand using a trowel, giving a matt finish which has both anti-skid properties and is built to withstand steel-wheeled traffic and substantial impacts. The surface can also be steam cleaned at high temperatures when applied at a thickness of 9mm or more, giving you an effectively bulletproof surface.

The best chemical resistance

Out of all the available resin screeds, polyurethane offers the best chemical resistance and is considered non-slip even in wet situations, making it ideal for a number of industrial and engineering applications. Screeds generally last for more than ten years, making them ideal for heavy duty applications where you need to be able to rely on the surface to maintain its properties over time.

Popular where spillages could occur

Polyurethane screeds are often used in industries such as the food, chemical, manufacturing or pharmaceutical industries, and are particularly popular where spillages of liquids or corrosive substances could occur. Due to its properties, a polyurethane screed will not be affected by chemical spills or become dangerously slippery when wet, unlike many other similar resin screeds. This is what makes the material so popular in this particular industries and applications.
